Eight Members of the Evergreen Boot Camp and their trainer ran the Henry Coe
Park 5K and 10K race on June 12. The challenging trail race had runners splashing
through several creeks in the out and back course on a warm Saturday morning.
There were close to 250 participants, ranging in age from 7 to 74. Three of the boot
camp members earned medals in their age groups; Meri Coleman 3rd place in the
5K, Kayla Coleman 2nd place and Christine Erlich 2nd place, both in the 10K race. The
Henry Coe Hunting Hollow race is an annual event sponsored by Henry Coe Park to
help raise money for the park. The Evergreen Boot Camp group has been working
out together at Evergreen Valley High School since October of last year. Some of
the members have other races scheduled, including the Wharf to Wharf, San Jose
Rock and Roll Half Marathon and the Nike Women’s Half Marathon.
